Introduction to Robotics in CIM Systems by James A. Rehg,

Introduction to Robotics in CIM Systems by James A. Rehg,
Employment trends in the field of robotics have changed over the years. Engineers and technicians no longer concentrate solely on robot technology; instead, they are capable of working on the entire production system. For this reason, any training in robotics must reflect this emphasis on the total system. The need for personnel who can design, develop, implement, and provide support for automated production systems with robots is significant and is growing. This fifth edition of "Introduction to Robotics in CIM Systems" includes information about the hardware, software, and programming that support the implementation of automated work cells and manufacturing systems. New in the fifth edition of the text: Goals and objectives listed at the beginning of each chapter. A career spotlight highlights careers related to the concepts being covered in every chapter. Updated information on safety and troubleshooting. A section outlining program commands for the Yaskawa robot. Major updates and additions throughout. Instructors who are using this book for a course should obtain the accompanying Instructor's Manual (ISBN 0-15-060245-0).

Geometrical Foundations of Robotics by J. M. Selig,
Geometrical Foundations of Robotics by J. M. Selig,
This book is a collection of talks presented at the 1998 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation. Broadly, the meeting discussed the application of modern geometrical methods to problems in robotics. There are now a few textbooks in this area and more papers in the literature. The aim of this book is to introduce these ideas, their simplicity and power, to a wider audience. The first three chapters give an introduction to the Lie group and Lie algebras. The focus is on the group of rigid body transformations in space, namely the Lie group which is fundamental to robotics. The following chapters provide an overview of some of the most up-to-date work in the field of geometrical methods in robotics and have been written by some of the leading researchers in the field. The applications addressed cover the design of robot kinematics, the analysis of singularities in robots and mechanisms, and a geometric view of some computational issues.
